HPE Smart Storage-batteriet er en centraliseret backupkilde med lithium-ion og lavt halogenindhold, som er nødvendig for at tage backup af skrivecache-indholdet i flashhukommelsen på HPE Smart Array Gen10 og Gen9 performance RAID (P-class)-controllere i tilfælde af et uplanlagt strømsvigt på serveren. Batteriet er også backup-strømkilden til HPE NVDIMMS og gør det muligt at flytte data, der er undervejs på DRAM, til den ikke-flygtige NAND-flash. Der kræves kun ét batteri pr. server, da det kan understøtte flere enheder.
